During the holiday season, it’s customary to exchange presents, baked goods, and greeting cards. However, some of these customs are being improved upon as time passes. Instead of sending Christmas cards to her coworkers, graphic artist Veronika Mcquade chose to make homemade trinkets. In September of last year, the artist enrolled in a pottery course. “I still attend lessons and sometimes drop by the studio for an extra time producing,” she tells DeMilked.
To elaborate, Veronika says, “I appreciate the work of Eleonor Boström and Joey Ruthers, who produce lovely (and often very little) ceramics. These clay ornaments were a last-minute Christmas gift idea for my coworkers, and they turned out to be far more excellent than a simple Christmas card.
The artist further extols the virtues of this exquisite method of expression, noting, “Working with pottery is immersive; it pushes me to focus and step away from my cell phone for a few hours.” You can see some examples of her fantastic work in the gallery below.
