The photographic genre of birds is intriguing but complicated. You need to understand how birds move and behave to capture the perfect shot. Many skilled bird photographers should be recognized for their efforts.
Therefore, the “Bird Photographer of the Year” holds a yearly competition to promote and honor exceptional bird photographers. According to the organizers, photographers from all over the world submitted more than 20,000 photographs to the competition, each with an eye on the £5,000 top prize.
The ultimate “winner” was an image of a rock ptarmigan in winter plumage taking flight above the snow-covered mountains of Tysfjord, taken by the Norwegian photographer Erlend Haarberg. Check through the gallery below to see the 2022 winning photos.
