Raven-haired people are not rare in the world. It is the most common genetic appearance in the world. But there is a unique creature called black blondes. They all have the same genetic appearance, and it is believed that blondes could only be found among Caucasians. Melanesia was introduced in 1832 by Jules Dumont d’Urville to denote an ethnic and geographical grouping of islands distinct from Polynesia and Micronesia.
Blonde hair was assigned to Caucasians for many years. Still, it is reported that the Melanesians are mainly spread out in the Solomon Islands, east of Papua New Guinea in Oceania. They are the one among the few groups with blonde hair outside Europe. The Solomon Islands are located in the South Pacific between Papua and Vanuatu and is independent state within the British Commonwealth.
Black island people in the south pacific migrated to America as slaves more than a few thousand years ago, and they were named the Unique Melanesians.
The indigenous Melanesian people used head-hunting, cannibalism, kidnapping, and slavery as the Asmat tribe. The indigenous Melanesian population of the islands has bright blond hair, between 5 and 10 percent.
There are a few considerations that how these people got their blond hair. Some believe that the sun and salt whitening, genetic heritage from mixed-breeding with Americans/Europeans that founded the islands, or high fish intake caused their appearance.
Sean Myles, a Nova Scotia agricultural college in Canada, conducted a genetic analysis of 1209 Melanesian Solomon Island residents. He found that the blondes carried two copies of a mutant gene present in 26 percent of the island’s population, comparing 43 blond Islanders and 42 brown Islanders on saliva and hair samples. The Melanesian people are different from the Caucasians because the Melanesians have a native TYRP1 gene that is partly responsible for blond hair and melanin. It’s a recessive gene and commonly appears in children than in adults, with hair tending to darken as the individual matures.
Christianity is the main religion in Melanesia, and it has over 1,000 languages with pidgins and creole. However, some people still practice their native religions, such as the belief in various spirits that inhabit the forests, swamps, and mountains.
Melanesia is also facing many social problems such as alcoholism, severe health conditions like malaria, Aids, and other criminal waves, just like the rest of the world.
However, Melanesians are friendly people who live happily in a paradise with an exotic history and culture.
