Hello, my name is Mihail Minkov, and my family and I reside in Sofia, Bulgaria, with our two young children. 2020 seemed like the ideal year to showcase my most recent photographic project because so many people worldwide are unable to spend time outside.

The stars and the night sky have captivated me ever since I was a young child. I have devoted my time to documenting and disclosing the mysteries of the Milky Way in particular. From February to late October 2020, I spent endless hours at night alone but not lonely under the night sky.

I feel modest and at peace, while I’m out under the stars because of the peace and quiet the night brings. It’s unfortunate that so many people have never witnessed the Milky Way since standing beneath its arc on a warm summer night is an experience you won’t soon forget. We can see a degree of detail in the night sky that is not visible to the human eye because of my light-sensitive camera. I enjoy putting a personal tale in the foreground and combining it with the night sky to create a picture.
