This is the moment Phantom, a 6-month-old baby koala, remained at his mother’s side after life-saving surgery.

After being struck by a vehicle in Australia, Lizzy, a mother koala, collapsed lung and facial damage.

Fortunately, Phantom was unhurt, and since he was so young, the staff decided to leave him with his mother.

Phantom sat on his mother’s neck, constantly cuddling her, and it seemed that his embraces worked.

“Phantom is with Lizzy during her procedures and check-ups to ensure neither mom nor bub gets stressed out,” hospital staff told the ABC.
